Raven Software revealed exciting news for fans of the larger lobby sizes, as seen early in Warzone’s life cycle.
When Warzone first launched in 2019, you could have up to 150 players in a lobby, and limited-time game modes increased the lobby size to 200 players per game.
In 2023, the devs controversially decreased the player count on Al Mazrah from 150 to 100. Players slammed the decision and urged it to be reversed.
However, the devs argued it would “prevent the match feeling too chaotic, provide improved matchmaking times, faster pre-game lobbies, and a better quality of match overall.”

Raven Software announced, “In preparation for future updates, we will begin intermittently testing 150 players across standard Battle Royale playlists. We will be closely monitoring player feedback, performance, and overall impact on match flow over the coming weeks.”

Community members welcomed the change with open arms.
“This is huge,” professional Warzone player HusKerrs said. “Let public unranked playlists be 150 players (and maybe even ranked), but keep WSOW and all customs tournaments at 120 players. (Also bring back buyback modes and 200 player quads)”
“Good, now keep it that way,” Warzone streamer Kalei added.
Warzone players accuse devs of “not caring” following latest update
